The Role

As Deputy Principal, you play a key role in leading school improvement initiatives across teaching and learning (with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy), staff development and student wellbeing. You work closely with the principal and leadership team to drive high quality teaching practices, develop strong professional learning communities and support a positive school culture.

The successful applicant will ideally exhibit strong relational leadership and the ability to build trust with students, staff and families. They will ideally lead with clarity and purpose, using data to inform decision making and supporting staff to continuously improve their practice through coaching, feedback and collaborative planning.

We are ideally looking for distinct skillsets that can contribute towards school improvement in the following areas:

• Leading the implementation and coaching of evidence-based teaching practices aligned to TFI and whole-school curriculum approaches.
• Supporting the refinement and consistent implementation of the schools’ core teaching commitments and High Impact Teaching strategies.
• Developing staff capacity in data analysis to strengthen the Plan – Teach – Assess cycle.
• Leading initiatives that improve student progress in literacy and numeracy.
• Supporting whole-school behaviour and wellbeing approaches including Highway Heros, Team Teach and restorative practices.
• Supporting initiatives that build social and emotional competence and wellbeing.
• Developing a distributed leadership model that empowers middle leaders and supports staff growth.
• Coaching staff through the observation and feedback processes that strengthen instructional practice.
• Contributing to a strong professional learning culture through Year Level Teams and collaborative planning.
• Supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement with parents, local organisations and secondary schools.
