Early Childhood Educator

About the role

The Educator with qualifications implements, monitors and assesses learning with students aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), My Time Our Place Framework, National Quality Standards and the school values, vision, mission and service philosophy.

Key responsibilities

• Engage in and support the sacramental, liturgical, ritual and prayer life of the service

• Work in conjunction with the (Assistant) Director, and other team members to assist with the preparation, implementation and evaluation of developmentally appropriate programs for each child based on the children's strengths and interests

• Be responsible for recording observations of individual children or groups of children for program planning purposes and working with individual children including children of particular needs

• Work with team members to contribute to improvement within the service

• Maintain a professional approach to work, which reflects the College philosophy, policies and procedures and ensures confidentiality in all aspects of its operations

• Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the service, college, parents and community

• Demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm in fulfilling the role including a commitment to ongoing self and technical development and actively participate within the College

About you

• Diploma in Early Childhood Education & Care

• Current Northern Territory Working with children (Ochre) Card

• Current First Aid Certificate including anaphylaxis Training and Asthma Awareness Training

• Demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission

• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and staff

• Understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), My Time Our Place Framework (MTOP) and the National Quality Standards

• Ability to provide the principles of a safe and stimulating environment that meets the social, cultural, educational and physical needs of the children

• Ability to take account of the needs and backgrounds of parents and encourage their participation

• Ability to use computers and technologies

• Fire Awareness Certificate (desirable)

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic College is a comprehensive College offering a Marist inspired educational experience that aims to develop young people of character, integrity and compassion who will in their turn become valued members of society. The College caters for students over three campuses from Transition to Year 12 and strives to provide students with a quality education that draws faith, culture and life into harmony. The College also runs an Early Learning Centre for children aged 3 to 5 years and an Out of School Hours Care service.
