Afternoon shift storeperson

We are looking for an experienced Storeperson to join our Afternoon Shift warehouse team at our Welshpool location.

This is a full-time position working the following hours:

• Monday to Thursday: 12:00pm – 8:30pm

• Friday: 12:00pm – 6:30pm

• Overtime: The opportunity to work until 10:30pm, depending on workload

Afternoon Shift attracts a 15% loading on all normal hours worked.

Overtime is paid separately at the applicable overtime rates, including time and a half and double time. The 15% shift loading does not apply to overtime hours.

What you'll be doing

You'll be part of the team responsible for keeping steel orders moving through the warehouse and getting them ready for customers.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Picking, preparing, packing and strapping steel and other length-based materials.

• Using overhead cranes and appropriate lifting equipment to safely move materials.

• Reading and following job paperwork to make sure every order is picked correctly and clearly marked.

• Loading and pre-loading trucks when required.

• Using downtime productively to replenish stock and get upcoming jobs ready.

• Cleaning and preparing jobs ready for delivery to customers.

• Operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.

• Keeping the warehouse clean, organised and safe.

• Working as part of the team to get the job done and keep things moving.

What we're looking for

Overhead crane experience is essential, and you must hold a current forklift licence.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working in a warehouse, steel yard or similar environment.

• Is confident and experienced operating overhead cranes.

• Holds a current forklift licence.

• Can read and follow job paperwork accurately.

• Takes pride in getting orders right the first time.

• Works well as part of a team but can also get on with the job without being constantly supervised.

• Can work safely and efficiently in a busy warehouse environment.

• Has a good attitude and is willing to help wherever needed.

• Takes workplace health and safety seriously.

A current First Aid and CPR/Resuscitation qualification will be viewed favourably and attracts an additional allowance.
