Lead with Expertise in Geriatric & Rehabilitation Nursing

Lead exceptional care for older people and make a difference through clinical leadership, specialist dementia, delirium and rehabilitation nursing at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Your new role:

As a Clinical Nurse within the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Unit, you will provide advanced clinical leadership and expert nursing care to older people, rehabilitation patients and people experiencing dementia, delirium and complex behavioural and psychological needs. Working across Banksia Place and the Acute Cognitive Unit, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, evidence-based and person-centred care while contributing to education, quality improvement, research and service development.

• Use advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills in complex clinical situations.
• Mentor, educate and support nurses, students and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to clinical audits, research, quality improvement and practice innovation.
• Lead and support portfolios across clinical practice, education, management and quality.

About you:

You are an experienced Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for supporting older people with complex health and cognitive needs. You bring confidence in clinical leadership, sound judgement and a commitment to developing others and improving patient outcomes.

• Experience caring for people with dementia, delirium and complex behaviours.
• Strong assessment, care planning, coordination and clinical decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, delegation, mentoring and communication skills.
• A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplants.

We are nationally recognised for our expertise in trauma management and organ transplants and are one of Australia's leading academic and research health centres. The PAH as a major medical research precinct hosts Australia's most advanced medical research facility, the Translational Research Institute (TRI) as well as a new Clinical Research Facility for the discoveries made at TRI to be trialed in a safe clinical environment.
