Located in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, Great Southern Hotel offers 265 guest rooms and welcomes both business and leisure travellers. This is a full-time permanent position working predominantly 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

As the Duty Manager, you will oversee the hotel's evening operations, ensuring seamless service delivery, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence while supporting and developing the Front Office team.

• Lead and supervise the Front Office team during afternoon and evening operations.

• Ensure smooth guest check-ins and check-outs while maintaining exceptional service standards.

• Handle guest enquiries, requests and complaints professionally, efficiently and with empathy.

• Act as the Manager on Duty, making operational decisions and resolving issues as they arise.

• Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.

• Support, coach and motivate the Front Office team while maintaining a positive workplace culture.

• Ensure hotel policies, procedures and brand standards are consistently followed.

• Assist with daily reporting, cash handling, shift balancing and end-of-day procedures.

• Maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for both guests and team members.

You will have:

• Minimum 1 years' experience in a Front Office Supervisor or Duty Manager role within a hotel.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• A genuine passion for delivering memorable guest experiences.

• Proven experience handling guest complaints and resolving issues confidently.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills.

• The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.

• Professional presentation and grooming.

• Availability to work full-time afternoon and evening shifts (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), including weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster.

• Full Australian working rights.

Experience with Opera Cloud or similar Property Management Systems will be highly regarded, however training will be provided.
