Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.

We advocate for the protection of Bunurong cultural heritage, the care of Country, and the wellbeing of our community and workforce across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and the Bass Coast. Our work is grounded in culture, respect, and strong governance.

About the Role

BLCAC is seeking a Community Development Officer to support strong, community-led outcomes across our Strong Community business unit.

Reporting to the CEO, this role focuses on building capacity within the Bunurong community by supporting participation, skills development and pathways into employment, training and business opportunities.

You will work closely with community members, Elders and internal teams to support initiatives that build confidence, capability and connection. The role also works in partnership with the Community Engagement and Community Education functions to ensure development opportunities are aligned with community priorities, cultural authority and organisational strategy.

This is a hands-on role that combines community engagement, program coordination, pathway development and stakeholder collaboration to support meaningful community outcomes. Key Responsibilities

• Build respectful and culturally safe relationships with community members, families and Elders.

• Support community-led initiatives that strengthen participation, skills development and economic opportunity.

• Facilitate access to programs, training and workshops that support community capability and wellbeing.

• Identify community strengths, priorities and barriers to participation, and provide insights to inform development initiatives and organisational decision-making.

• Coordinate and support the delivery of community development programs, including logistics, communications and participant support.

• Monitor participation, engagement trends and community feedback to support evaluation and continuous improvement.

• Support pathways into employment, training, enterprise and business opportunities.

• Work closely with Community Engagement and Community Education teams to align community priorities with development and pathway opportunities.

• Support partnerships with government, training providers and community organisations to enhance opportunity pathways.

• Participate in community meetings, outreach activities, events and sector engagement as required.

• Maintain accurate records, reporting and participant data, including contributing to reporting, evaluation and funding requirements where relevant.

• Assist with grant-related activities, including documentation and acquittals where required.

• Support the effective use of resources in line with approved budgets and organisational requirements.

What You Bring

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in community development, capacity building or pathway development

• Experience working with Aboriginal communities or community-controlled organisations (highly regarded)

• Relevant qualification in community development, social services, employment services, business or a related field (or equivalent experience)

• Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)

• Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

• Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
