Food is an important part of daily life at ValleyView. Our kitchen team plays a key role in creating meals and dining experiences that are safe, nutritious, enjoyable and responsive to each resident’s individual needs and preferences.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and organised Head Chef to lead the day-to-day operation of our kitchen.

This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role that combines food preparation with menu planning, team coordination, stock management and food safety compliance.

The Head Chef will work closely with the wider ValleyView team to ensure meals meet residents’ nutritional requirements, dietary needs, cultural preferences and personal choices.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading, supporting and coordinating the kitchen team

• Preparing and overseeing the preparation of high-quality meals

• Developing and reviewing menus that meet residents’ needs and preferences

• Managing stock levels, ordering and kitchen supplies

• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and infection control

• Ensuring dietary requirements, allergies and texture-modified diets are correctly followed

• Monitoring food quality, presentation and portioning

• Supporting effective communication between the kitchen, care and clinical teams

• Maintaining kitchen records and required documentation

• Promoting a positive, organised and respectful kitchen environment

About you

We are looking for someone who is confident leading a kitchen while remaining actively involved in daily food preparation and service.

You will bring:

• Strong cooking and kitchen management experience

• Sound knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices

• Strong organisation, planning and time management skills

• Experience coordinating and supporting a kitchen team

• The ability to manage menus, stock, ordering and kitchen operations

• A calm, practical and solutions-focused approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• A genuine commitment to meeting residents’ individual needs and preferences

Experience in residential aged care, healthcare or large-scale catering will be highly regarded.
