Retail Assistant Volunteer - Join the Vinnies Gawler store

At Vinnies SA, our volunteers help strengthen local communities by supporting people experiencing hardship. Funds raised through our shops help provide essential services across South Australia, including housing and homelessness support, emergency relief, financial assistance, refugee support, and crisis services.

As a Retail Assistant Volunteer, you’ll support the Shop Manager and team by welcoming customers, sorting and pricing donations, replenishing stock, maintaining displays, and assisting with daily shop operations. You’ll gain valuable retail and teamwork skills while enjoying meaningful tasks, training, ongoing support, and the opportunity to meet new people.

If you are aged 15 years and over, welcoming, inclusive, and reliable, enjoy working with others, are willing to learn, and can commit to a regular weekly shift of 3–4 hours, we’d love to hear from you.

Note: 1) This is an unpaid volunteer role and Centrelink-approved volunteer activities. 2) Best practice recommends volunteering should generally not exceed 15 hours per week, with a minimum shift commitment of 3-4 hours per shift. 3) Each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (e.g. Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).

** Time Required **
A regular weekly commitment is required, with shifts of 3–4 hours. The store is open Tuesday to Friday, 9:00am to 4:30pm and Saturday, 9:00am to 3:00pm with shift times arranged based on availability. Current availability is on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only. Please note that we also have a Warehouse Volunteer opportunity based at this location.

No previous retail experience is required. Our Shop Manager and team will provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to help you succeed in your role.
