Automotive Mechanic

Power Tech Tuning is a performance workshop based in Parafield Gardens, South Australia. Our core has always been Holden and HSV: LS V8 and V6 builds, induction, exhaust and tuning for street and strip. We are also an authorised Evolve Technik dealer for European ECU and TCU work, which has widened the range of vehicles rolling through our doors.

That workload has grown beyond what our current team can absorb. Rather than push the same hands harder and let turnaround times slip, we are expanding the team.

At this stage, we are not in a position to offer any sponsorships and are only looking for applicants with existing Australian working rights.

We are seeking a fully qualified technician who is willing to switch between platforms: LS performance one day, a JDM turbo build the next, and a European service and diagnostic job the day after. You do not need to be an expert across all three. You do need genuine depth in at least one, and the appetite to be trained in the rest.

This is not a dealership environment. Our pace is measured, our standards are high, and our customers expect their car back better than they left it.

You are a qualified mechanic with a minimum of 3 years post-apprenticeship experience, ideally with performance or modified vehicle work behind you. You are comfortable with a scan tool and a structured diagnostic process rather than parts-swapping, and you understand that a modified car does not behave like a factory one.

You should be comfortable guiding an apprentice, enjoy a tight-knit team, and want to work on cars that are genuinely interesting rather than another logbook service queue.

✅ Australian recognised trade qualification (Certificate III Light Vehicle or equivalent)
✅ Minimum 3 years qualified experience
✅ Strong practical skills in at least one of: LS / GM V8, JDM performance, or European servicing and diagnostics ✅ Confident with scan tools and a logical fault-finding approach
✅ High attention to detail and pride in a clean, organised workspace
✅ Ability to work independently, problem-solve and own the outcome
✅ Excellent communication and time management
✅ Current Australian driver's licence

• Dyno and tuning experience (HP Tuners, EFI Live, or similar)

• Forced induction, cam packages or built engine work

• Exhaust fabrication, TIG or MIG welding

• Familiarity with aftermarket components and custom builds

• Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices

• Any exposure to European ECU or TCU flashing

• Genuine variety: LS, JDM and European work under one roof

• Training and upskilling, including European ECU and TCU work through our Evolve Technik dealer relationship
