Trades Assistant

About the role

As a Trades Assistant, you will work closely with experienced tradespeople to help complete day-to-day tasks safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Duties may include general labouring, preparing work areas, handling materials, using hand and power tools, assisting with equipment setup, and keeping the workplace clean and organised.

Key responsibilities

• Assist tradespeople with daily workshop and site tasks.

• Prepare, load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment.

• Use hand and power tools safely under direction.

• Carry out general labouring, cleaning, and site preparation duties.

• Support basic maintenance, repairs, assembly, and installation work.

• Always follow workplace health and safety procedures.

• Maintain a tidy, safe, and organised work area.

• Work cooperatively with supervisors, tradespeople, and other team members.

About you

• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.

• Comfortable with physical, hands-on work.

• Good communication skills and a strong team attitude.

• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.

• Previous experience in construction, fabrication, maintenance, civil works, manufacturing, or a similar environment is highly regarded.

• Experience using hand and power tools is preferred.

• Current driver licence and own transport preferred.

• White Card or relevant site safety ticket preferred, where applicable.
