Assistant Centre Manager – Maths Education

Mathnasium is a maths-only learning centre supporting students from Kindergarten to Year 10 through personalised learning plans and the Mathnasium Method.

We are looking for a confident, organised and dependable Assistant Centre Manager who can combine mathematics instruction, team leadership, parent communication and daily centre operations.

This is not a temporary university tutoring position. It is suited to someone seeking a stable, long-term opportunity to develop a career in education and centre management.

About the role

During your first four to six weeks, your role will be primarily focused on instructing students and learning the Mathnasium Method, curriculum, learning plans and centre systems.

This teaching period is essential because you will need practical knowledge of our instructional approach before monitoring student progress or coaching other instructors.

After completing your initial training, you will gradually take on additional Assistant Centre Manager responsibilities.

Direct instruction remains part of the role, including providing occasional teaching coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging mathematics instruction to students from Kindergarten to Year 10.
• Help lead the instructional floor and ensure sessions run smoothly.
• Allocate students to instructors based on their learning needs.
• Monitor student engagement, behaviour, learning plans and progress.
• Coach instructors through observation, modelling and constructive feedback.
• Communicate professionally with parents regarding progress and concerns.
• Conduct assessments and parent consultations after completing training.
• Support enquiries, enrolments and family follow-up.
• Maintain accurate student, scheduling and administrative records.
• Support the Centre Director with daily operations and centre performance.

About you

You will have:

• Strong mathematics knowledge and confidence with content up to Year 10.
• The ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and patiently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence working with students, parents and employees.
• Strong organisation, judgement and attention to detail.
• The ability to remain calm and prioritise tasks in a busy environment.
• A professional, reliable and accountable approach.
• Consistent availability across all five weekday afternoons.
• A current NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Valid Australian working rights.

Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, team leadership, customer service, operations or staff coaching is highly regarded.

A university degree is essential. Mathematics capability, leadership potential, communication and reliability are more important.

Hours and availability

This is a casual position with regular shifts across Monday to Friday afternoons and evenings.

Consistent availability across all five weekdays is essential because continuity is important for our students, families and team.

Exact shift times and weekly hours will be rostered according to student enrolments, staffing and operational requirements and may vary over time.

The successful candidate will primarily work at one centre but must be willing to complete training or provide support across both Gordon and Hornsby when required.

Regular team meetings and training sessions are mandatory and paid. These are generally scheduled on selected Saturday mornings with advance notice.
