ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll be a cultural navigator—building strong, respectful relationships with First Nations families and supporting individuals to live full, connected lives. Working within the NDIS framework, you’ll co-create meaningful goals, build confidence, and connect participants with opportunities that reflect who they are—not just what they can do.

You will:

• Champion culturally grounded employment pathways
• Deliver culturally responsive support and mentoring
• Support participants to identify their strengths and unlock their potential
• Promote vocational pathways and complete life visions
• Create and source inclusive, sustainable employment opportunities
• Build long-lasting relationships with employers and community organisations
• Advocate for culturally safe practices in workplaces and services

WHAT YOU BRING 

• You have experience working with First Nations people, jobseekers, employers, educational and vocational organisations
• You bring a strong understanding of disability support and advocacy 
• Deeply connected to local First Nations communities
• Proven ability to build networks and service pathways with confidence
• Can confidently create culturally safe spaces for growth and learning
• Comfortable navigating barriers to employment with empathy and innovation
• Have strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

This role covers the on Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yaegl regions of the Clarence Valley, surrounding communities across the Mid North Coast, North Coast, and Northern Rivers NSW.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

To join the Caringa team, you’ll need (or be willing to obtain):

• Confirmation of Aboriginality: Verified by a common seal and a reference from an Aboriginal organisation or community group.
• Certificate III in Individual Support
• Valid Driver’s License: Minimum P1 license and willingness to travel across the Clarence Valley
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Working with Children Check (WWCC)
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Understanding of Child Protection Principles, including familiarity with the Keep Them Safe framework
• Full Australian Working Rights

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:

• Certificate IV in Disability
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in community services or education
