Aero Structures Senior Design Engineer

Location: Sydney

We're looking for an experienced Structures Design Engineer to join our dynamic airframe Structures team in Sydney. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in providing essential structures engineering repair solutions on our commercial aircraft programs.

Reporting to your Team Lead and guided by your Technical Lead, you'll leverage your expertise in design to develop, approve, and help deliver safe, practical, and agile repair design solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented designer to contribute directly to the airworthiness and longevity of critical aerospace assets.

To thrive in this role, you'll be a proactive and collaborative engineer with a solid foundation in the repair and design of aerospace structures. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a high-performing team in a continuous improvement environment.

We're looking for someone who demonstrates:

• 8+ years of hands-on aerospace experience covering structural repairs and new designs. This includes:
  • Development of repair/design instructions including detailed engineering drawings
  • Solid understanding of good airframe structures design practices
  • Strong CATIA V5 proficiency
  • Comfortable designing with both metallic and composites
• Practical knowledge of airframe structural principles, encompassing materials, manufacturing processes, and through-life airframe sustainment. An awareness of commercial aspects is also valuable.
• Familiarity with applicable aviation legislation and regulations (e.g., DASR, EASA, CASA, FAA, Transport Canada) and industry best practices.
• A Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or a related discipline from a nationally accredited program, or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build lasting, collaborative relationships with colleagues and cross-functional teams, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
