Technical Competency Specialist

Wood is currently recruiting for a Technical Competency Specialist to join our Operations Management Solutions (OMS) team based in Perth. While our preference is for a Perth based applicant, we will readily review applications from those based in Brisbane or Melbourne.  This role reports to the Regional Manager APAC OMS and is offered as a permanent staff and career development assignment with flexible working arrangements.  

In this role you will work closely with key clients to develop and deliver effective training and assessment solutions meeting agreed client requirements in competency development, assurance and training.  This will include complete Competency Assurance programs addressing deliverables such as Competency Assurance Framework documents, e-Learning modules, Training Manuals, Classroom Packs, Procedures and In-Field Task-books.  Other responsiblities of the role will also include:

• Managing internal global teams of Subject Matter Experts, Writers, Editors, Publishers and Illustrators to meet agreed project outcomes
• Ensuring submitted documentation meets agreed standards, is easily understood by operators, maintainers and supervisors with sufficient information to explain a process or equipment succinctly and meets Quality considerations - it is important that Regulatory, Safety and Environmental standards must be reflected in all documentation
• Liaising with external stakeholders at technical and functional levels, both in central Hubs and remote sites
• Supporting project and budget management including estimation and delivery schedule development
• Participating in regular team meetings which may include minute taking and follow up actions 
• Effective interpersonal skills and an enthusiasm for technical collaboration working together in a team

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or relevant degree (university or TAFE)
• Certificate IV in Project Management or equivalent

 Knowledge, skills and experience

• Experience in designing and delivering integrated training and competency programs at a corporate level, to national standards (Australia, UK or New Zealand)
• Knowledge of Australian PMA and / or RII Competency Packages and Units
• General project delivery and management experience
• Sound knowledge of technical competency models in the Energy, Mining and Resource sectors
• Goal setting, on time delivery, general time management skills with an outcome focus
• Effective capability in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 
• Demonstrated Technical Editing skills and solid grounding in Technical Writing principles with an exceptional attention to detail, and ability to consistently apply Wood technical document production quality control processes and standards
• Personal integrity and trustworthiness and a willingness to treat all people with respect, integrity and consistency
• Strong initiative and self-drive to meet objectives, highly organised and technically curious
• An appetite for persistence, resilience, and patience in a sometimes-challenging environment along with a strong willingness to learn
• An appreciation of the value of teamwork and willingness to work as part of a team, providing support for other team members as required
