About the role We are seeking a reliable and motivated apprentice to develop a career in metal fabrication, TIG welding and pipework. The successful applicant will receive practical, supervised training while completing a nationally recognised trade qualification through TAFE NSW or another registered training provider.
The role includes workshop and, where required, site-based work throughout the Hawkesbury and surrounding areas. Applications are welcome from first-year candidates and apprentices looking to recommence or transfer their apprenticeship. Duties and responsibilities
Under appropriate supervision, the apprentice will learn to: Perform TIG welding on [stainless steel/aluminium/mild steel] Measure, mark out, cut, prepare and fit metal components
Fabricate and assemble pipework and related components Read and interpret drawings, measurements and job instructions Use hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery safely
Prepare materials and work areas before fabrication Inspect completed work and identify defects Assist with workshop and site installations
Maintain tools, equipment and a clean work area Follow workplace health, safety and quality procedures Complete formal training, assessments and required coursework
Work cooperatively with supervisors, tradespeople and customers Essential requirements The successful applicant will:
Have a genuine interest in welding, fabrication and pipework Be reliable, punctual and willing to learn Follow instructions and accept constructive feedback
Demonstrate good attention to detail Have basic maths and measurement skills Work safely and responsibly
Be willing to complete the required formal training Be able to work effectively within a team Show initiative and develop the ability to work independently
Be able to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role, with reasonable adjustments where required Have reliable transport to the Hawkesbury workplace
