Orchard Hand

Jasper Farms is one of Australia’s leading growers of avocados, currently operating three avocado orchards within close proximity of Busselton. 

An exciting opportunity has become available within our team for an Orchard Hand . The successful candidates will become an integral component of a small but highly motivated Orchard team.

About the role

The Orchard Hand role will work closely with the Orchard Leadership team to assist with the day-to-day operation of the Orchard to ensure production of high-quality fruit. This role will be able to complete all orchard activities from orchard detailing, pruning, irrigation, and other general orchard activities. The successful candidate will ensure that all orchard activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Machinery operation, both horticultural and earth moving.

• Assist with orchard spraying activities 

• Assist with harvest and pruning.

• General tree husbandry tasks.

• Irrigation installation, operation & maintenance.

• any ad hoc tasks required to ensure the property remains well presented and the trees are happy

• Comply with workplace health and safety policies and programs.

About you

The successful candidates will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. You will be passionate about what you do and possess the following skills and experience: 

• A current driver’s licence

• Experience in operating and maintaining agricultural and earth moving machinery highly desirable.

• Minimum 12 months agricultural/horticultural field experience.

The following qualifications are desirable, but not essential;

• forklift licence 

• chemical handling certificate 

• first aid certificate 

• qualification in Agriculture or Horticulture 

• experience with computerised irrigation systems.
