About the role
Full-time Trade Waiter
Phillip Island Wine Co Pty Ltd is a winery and hospitality business located on Phillip Island (Ventnor), Victoria, offering quality wines, premium dining and memorable visitor experiences.
We are seeking a full-time Trade Waiter to join our team.
The base salary offered is $70,000–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
· Welcome guests, assist with reservations and provide menus and beverage lists, explaining available food and drink options where required.
· Provide knowledgeable recommendations on menu items and wines, including suggestions that complement guests’ food selections.
· Take customer orders accurately and communicate them to the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely service.
· Discuss customers’ dietary requirements and food allergies, answer questions about available options, and accurately communicate any special requirements to the kitchen and other back-of-house staff.
· Serve food and beverages to guests in accordance with the restaurant’s service and presentation standards.
· Prepare and serve beverages, including opening and pouring wine and other drinks, and assist with basic bar and cellar duties as required.
· Prepare, arrange and maintain dining tables before and during service, ensuring tables are appropriately presented for guests.
· Clear used plates, glasses and cutlery promptly and maintain clean and organised dining areas throughout service.
· Monitor tables during service, removing empty bottles and used glasses and replenishing beverages and tableware as required.
· Process customer payments accurately using the point-of-sale system and cash register, and assist with other front-of-house duties as required.
Skills and Experience Requirements
· An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate III in Hospitality (Restaurant Front of House), or equivalent qualification as assessed by a registered training organisation (RTO), and at least 12 months relevant work experience (Note: 12 months relevant work experience is additional to job placements during course of study) or
· at least 18 months’ relevant work experience in Australia on a temporary visa, or
· at least two (2) years relevant experience.
· Previous experience in a restaurant, winery, cellar door or other premium hospitality environment is highly desirable.
· Good knowledge of food and wine, with the ability to confidently explain menu items and recommend wines to complement customers’ selections.
· Strong customer service skills, with a professional and attentive approach to delivering a high-quality dining experience.
Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per annum + superannuation
