Commissioning Technician / Engineer - Building Management Systems

Controlworks is looking for an experienced Commissioning Technician / Engineer to join our Projects team in Melbourne.
This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on commissioning, testing and tuning Building Management Systems (BMS). You will work across data centres, commercial buildings, healthcare, education and industrial projects.

The roleWorking closely with Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors and clients, you will:Commission BMS installations against project specifications and sequences.Configure and test BMS controllers, field devices and networks.Complete point-to-point testing and verify field wiring and I/O.Functionally test HVAC plant and associated control systems.Tune and optimise control strategies for system performance.Troubleshoot hardware, software and communication issues.Work with BACnet, Modbus and IP-based networks.Support FAT, SAT, system integration and final client handover.Complete commissioning records, checklists and defect documentation.Assist with client demonstrations and operator familiarisation.Work safely under company HSEQ requirements and site procedures.
About youYou have practical BMS commissioning experience and strong fault-finding skills. You understand HVAC systems and can confidently interpret control drawings, electrical schematics and sequences of operation.
Essential requirements include:Demonstrated BMS commissioning experience.Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical services.Experience commissioning BMS controllers and field devices.Strong technical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.Understanding of building automation communication protocols.Ability to manage multiple commissioning activities.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Current Australian Driver Licence.White Card.Full Australian working rights.
Highly regardedExperience or qualifications in the following areas would be advantageous:Electrical Trade or Engineering qualification.Niagara N4, Alerton, Honeywell, Distech or Schneider Electric.BACnet, Modbus, KNX and IP networking.Data centre, healthcare or major commercial projects.EWP, Working at Heights or First Aid certification.
What to expectThe role is primarily site-based across Greater Melbourne, with regular travel between project sites. Some commissioning activities may require work outside standard business hours.
You will join an experienced Projects and Engineering team delivering technically demanding BMS projects from commissioning through to successful client handover.
