HR & People Advisor

About the role

This is a broad, hands-on HR generalist position with a strong focus on recruitment, employee relations, workforce compliance and the full employee lifecycle. Reporting to the Head of Operations & Support, you'll work closely with operational leaders, supervisors and support team and will be a key point of contact for HR advice across the business. You'll move comfortably between strategy and delivery – advising management on a people issue one minute, interviewing a candidate the next, reviewing an Award classification, running a performance process or making sure a policy rollout has actually been completed and documented.

Key responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end recruitment across drilling, maintenance, operational and support positions

• Working with operational leaders to understand current and upcoming workforce requirements

• Writing and posting advertisements and proactively sourcing candidates

• Screening, interviewing and progressing suitable candidates

• Managing reference checks, pre-employment requirements, offers and employment contracts

• Providing practical and commercially sound HR advice to managers and supervisors

• Managing performance, conduct and disciplinary processes

• Managing workplace investigations from initial assessment through to findings and recommended outcomes

• Interpreting applicable Modern Awards and employment conditions

• Reviewing employee classifications, pay rates and progression requirements

About you

• Demonstrated experience in an HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor, People & Culture Advisor or similar generalist position

• Strong end-to-end recruitment experience, ideally within an operational or blue-collar workforce

• Demonstrated experience managing employee relations and performance matters

• Experience conducting workplace investigations and managing disciplinary processes

• Strong working knowledge of Modern Awards, the Fair Work framework and Australian employment legislation

• Confidence interpreting employment conditions, classifications and remuneration arrangements

• Experience advising managers and supervisors on HR and people matters

• Strong written capability, particularly formal HR correspondence and documentation

• Excellent attention to detail and HR governance skills

• Relevant HR qualifications would be highly regarded
