About the role
The Role
We are seeking a commercially minded, highly organised Operations Manager to own the day-to-day operating rhythm of our international business. This is a hands-on role: you will be close to the detail, resolve problems quickly, and turn data into practical improvements.
You will lead the operational management and help set the strategy of our operations across all markets. You will also strengthen systems, processes, reporting, and cross-functional execution so Farm & Yard can scale efficiently while protecting customer experience, cash flow, and margin.
Key Responsibilities
1. 3PL, Warehouse & Logistics Management
Own the operational relationship with our 3PLs, warehouses, carriers, and freight partners across Australia, the UK, and the US. Set clear service expectations, run regular performance reviews, resolve issues promptly, and hold partners accountable for cost, accuracy, speed, and communication.
Manage the end-to-end flow of stock, including inbound freight, receiving, storage, pick-and-pack, dispatch, delivery exceptions, claims, returns, and reverse logistics. Ensure each market is ready for promotions, product launches, peak trading, stock transfers, and disruptions.
2. Inventory, Supply & Order Operations
Maintain a clear view of inventory across all locations and channels. Turn sales forecasts, wholesale requirements, promotions, and lead times into replenishment recommendations, purchase-order tracking, stock-transfer plans, and early warnings on stock risks.
Monitor stock cover, stock-outs, sell-through, aged inventory, damaged stock, and inventory variance. Coordinate reconciliations and stock counts with 3PLs and suppliers, investigate material discrepancies, and recommend actions that balance availability, working capital, freight, and storage cost.
3. Systems, Processes & Cost Efficiency
Own the practical day-to-day use of our operating systems, including e-commerce, inventory, order-management, warehouse, shipping, customer-service, and finance integrations. Identify broken handoffs, weak data, manual workarounds, and recurring errors; then implement practical improvements.
Create and maintain simple, usable SOPs for fulfilment exceptions, replenishment, 3PL escalation, returns, product launches, quality control, and incident management. Seek out opportunities to reduce avoidable fulfilment, freight, packaging, storage, returns, and error-related costs.
4. Cross-Functional Operations & Reporting
Run a clear weekly operating rhythm and keep priorities, risks, and actions visible. Work closely with customer experience, finance, marketing, and leadership to ensure that launches, promotions, wholesale demand, and new initiatives are operationally viable and executed well.
Build concise dashboards that make the key information easy to act on. Report on what is working, where risk is emerging, what decisions are needed, and what actions are under way. As the business grows, you may coordinate operations staff, contractors, or specialist providers.
Experience & Capability
We are looking for an owner-operator who can work independently, communicate clearly, and make sound decisions under pressure. You will be as comfortable investigating a warehouse variance as you are negotiating a remediation plan with a 3PL or presenting a cost-saving recommendation to leadership.
Essential
5+ years’ experience in e-commerce, operations, supply chain, fulfilment, or logistics management.
Demonstrated ownership of 3PL, warehouse, carrier, and/or freight-forwarder relationships.
Strong knowledge of inventory, replenishment, fulfilment, returns, and operational reporting.
Experience with e-commerce and operational systems such as Shopify, OMS, WMS, ERP, inventory-planning, shipping, or help-desk platforms.
Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into decisions and action.
Excellent written English, strong documentation habits, and confidence working remotely across time zones.
Desirable
Experience in both direct-to-consumer e-commerce and wholesale operations.
Experience working across two or more of Australia, the UK, and the US.
International freight, customs, duties, and cross-border logistics experience.
Experience implementing integrations, automation, or operational technology improvements.
Experience managing a remote operations team, contractors, or service providers.
