About the role
Access4u is looking for an experienced Psychologist to join our growing team!
Access4u is a rapidly growing and exciting not-for-profit organisation providing a range of supports and agreements with aligned service providers, providing people timely and tailored services or access to services, including Therapy, Home Support, Mentoring, Community Participation, Positive Behaviour Support, Psychology, Support Coordination, and Specialised Support Coordination amongst others.

The role:
We are currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Psychologist to join our team!
The Psychologist will promote and encourage skill development, independence, and quality of life for people with a disability accessing Access4u services. The Psychologist will achieve this through demonstrating professional and person-centred practice. The role will involve:
Promoting the mental health and emotional well-being of people with disabilities.
Implementing therapeutic strategies to enhance individual health and wellbeing.
Assisting people with a disability to set and attain individual goals.
Working and liaising with families, service providers, allied health professionals, and community members to enhance the choice, social inclusion, and quality of life for people with disability.
Conducting psychological assessments to inform therapeutic interventions.
Facilitating self-advocacy and / or advocate on behalf of people with disabilities.
Supporting individuals with disabilities to transition to access and maintain meaningful occupation and recreational / lifestyle pursuits.
Developing and facilitating a wide range of capacity building programs that aim to increase independence and skill development.
Helping families, caregivers and individuals with disability understand the impact of disability on a person’s daily functioning.
Liaising with stakeholders to ensure all NDIS requirements are addressed in a timely fashion.
Skills and Experience:
Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Prior experience as a Psychologist preferred.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Developmental Education, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Disability or Social Sciences.
Demonstrated experience and well-developed skills in working effectively with children, young people, or adults with a range of disability and/or complex behavioural needs.
The ability to communicate effectively across a range of stakeholders; from the families we work with, to a variety of other service providers.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
Knowledge of strengths-based practice, as well as family and person-centred approaches.
Knowledge of working within the NDIS Restrictive Practice legislation.
Understanding of the Positive Behaviour Support planning and implementation process and compliance with NDIS legislative and Capability Framework.
Highly developed and effective written and oral communication, with a proven ability to clearly and logically express ideas.
Ability to produce professional documents suited to the target audience.
