Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Expeditor to join our Naval Base workshop team. This role would suit an experienced Boilermaker looking to transition into a coordination-focused role, someone with strong fabrication knowledge seeking their next career step, or a semi-retired industry professional looking to remain connected to the trade in a flexible and supportive environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Superintendent, you will play a key role in supporting project delivery by expediting steel through our workshop and tracking fabrication progress across multiple workshop bays.

This role will suit an experienced Boilermaker or fabrication professional looking to transition into a coordination-focused position while utilising their practical industry knowledge. You will work closely with workshop teams,

Key responsibilities include:

• Expediting steel and fabricated components through the workshop to meet project schedules

• Tracking fabrication progress across multiple workshop bays and providing regular updates

• Liaising with Workshop Supervisors, Leading Hands and project teams to monitor priorities and deadlines

• Identifying production delays, material constraints, or issues impacting delivery timeframes

• Coordinating with internal teams to ensure jobs progress efficiently through each fabrication stage

• Maintaining accurate progress reporting and communicating updates to key stakeholders

• Assisting with material flow, dispatch planning and workshop coordination as required

About You

We are seeking someone with a strong understanding of heavy fabrication environments who can bring practical industry knowledge, organisation skills and a proactive approach.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Boilermaker within a heavy fabrication or industrial environment

• A desire to transition into an expediting, coordination, or workshop support role

• Valid Dogging Licence (DG) – essential

• Strong understanding of fabrication drawings, materials and workshop processes

• Ability to coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and transport providers

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office

• Additional tickets such as Forklift (LF), HR Licence, or Rigging experience will be highly regarded.
