About the role
Lawpoint is a new firm growing fast, and we’re building our team from the ground up. That means you're not filling someone else’s role – we have the rare opportunity to build the role around you.
As an Associate, you’ll bring experience in and work across at least three areas of law, but which areas those are is flexible. Your areas of practice will be shaped around your experience, strengths and where you want to take your career.
You’ll have real ownership of quality, complex matters and the autonomy to work your way, backed by a highly experienced Principal. Our matters span a broad range of law, giving you plenty of opportunity to build experience beyond the areas you already know.
Real autonomy – Take ownership of your matters and client relationships, with senior support when you need it.
Career progression – A clear pathway for professional development.
Close mentoring – Direct access to a highly experienced Principal who is genuinely invested in developing great lawyers.
A work life that feels good – 1 day WFH, realistic expectations, a warm and friendly team and a culture that respects your time.
Competitive package – Competitive salary, secure car space, gym membership (it's right downstairs!)
Performance bonus - Based on your performance, targets, client satisfaction and retention - not your ability to bring in new clients.
Leadership development - Build your leadership, communication and emotional intelligence skills through professional development.
As an Associate, you’ll:
Lead matters from start to finish across your agreed areas.
Appear in court and at mediations.
Work directly with clients, counsel and external parties.
Draft advice, correspondence and court documents.
Contribute to strategy, risk assessment and commercial outcomes for clients.
Collaborate with the Principal on complex matters and key client relationships.
Mentor and support the junior members of the team.
3-4 years post-admission experience in private practice in New South Wales.
Experience across at least three areas of law. Which areas is flexible.
Current NSW practising certificate.
Strong drafting and analytical skills.
The confidence to manage matters and competing priorities independently.
Clear, plain-English communication and the ability to build trust with clients.
Sound judgement and a collaborative approach.

All applications will be treated with respect and discretion. Only Australian residents currently living in NSW will be considered. Salary is commensurate to experience.
