Chef – Chinese & Yum Cha Cuisine

About the role

We are seeking a hands-on Chef to join our busy yum cha and Chinese restaurant kitchen team. Working under the Head Chef and senior chefs, you will support different kitchen sections and assist with yum cha, à la carte, banquet and function services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present dishes to restaurant standards

• Work across kitchen sections including preparation, steaming, fryer, oven, cold section, soups and stocks

• Assist with yum cha and Chinese dishes according to your skills and experience

• Maintain food quality, presentation, portion control and food safety standards

• Assist with stock control, storage, stock rotation and minimising food waste

• Support senior chefs with ordering, menu preparation and recipe standardisation

• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house teams during service

About you

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent qualification

• At least two years of relevant commercial kitchen experience as a Chef

• Experience in a busy restaurant, hotel, banquet, function or high-volume kitchen

• Strong cooking, food preparation and organisational skills

• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and stock rotation

• Reliable, professional and able to work effectively as part of a team

• Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills would be advantageous for communication within our kitchen team

• Available for a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
