Mechanical Fitters

Camco Engineering provides a range of manufacturing & maintenance services to the Mining, Power Generation and Oil and Gas sectors.

We are currently seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitter for our Fixed Plant Workshop for an immediate start. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Overhauling and maintaining mining equipment, including gearboxes, exciters, pumps & bogies;

• Precision fitting of bearings, shafts, gears and couplings, ensuring correct limits & fits are utilised;

• Disassembly, assembly & fault finding on Industrial gearboxes including planetary drives, spiral bevel sets & helical gearsets;

• Setting, adjustment & measuring of gear contact patterns, end floats & backlash;

• Interpreting technical drawings and work instructions for equipment overhaul;

• Performing routine inspections and failure diagnostic on various types of fixed plant equipment.

About You:

• Experienced in thorough overhaul of complex fixed plant equipment;

• Proficient in bearing fitment utilising induction heaters;

• Confident in the use of hydraulic presses for the assembly & disassembly of gear & shafts;

• Thorough understanding of gearbox assembly, including backlash & end float requirements;

• Capable of safely operating overhead cranes (dogging or basic rigging is highly desirable);

• Puts safety first at all times, is experienced with ‘Lock Out, Tag Out’ & is competent in the completion of Take-5’s & JHA’s;

• Minimum Cert III in Mechanical Fitting or Fitting / Machining;

• Minimum 2 years post trade experience in a workshop role;

• Competent in the use of iPads for the purpose of report writing & data capture
