Leading complex legal matters across local government, planning, environmental, commercial and litigation practice areas, providing practical and strategic advice that supports Council's operations and decision-making.Representing and protecting Council's interests through advocacy, prosecutions, court proceedings, contract negotiations and the management of high-profile legal risks and disputes.Developing legal capability across the organisation by partnering with leaders and staff, delivering training, and mentoring legal professionals within the Legal Services team.Making a meaningful impact for the Penrith community by helping shape planning outcomes, supporting responsible governance, protecting community interests, and enabling the delivery of projects and services that benefit the people of Penrith.

What are we looking for?
Admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, with substantial experience practising in local government, planning and environmental law.Demonstrated experience managing complex litigation and advocacy matters, including appearances before courts and tribunals or instructing counsel in significant proceedings. Proven ability to provide strategic, practical and high-quality legal advice to a broad range of stakeholders on complex and sensitive matters.Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, including experience mentoring, developing or supervising legal professionals and partnering effectively with diverse stakeholders.
The must-know bits
You may be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.
