About the Role

The Billing Administrator is responsible for managing patient billing processes, including accounts, health fund claims, invoicing and payment reconciliation. You will support the hospital’s financial operations while providing professional and compassionate service to patients and stakeholders.

• Prepare and process accurate patient accounts, invoices and billing information.

• Process billing for insured, self-funded and third-party patients.

• Verify patient details, health fund eligibility and financial information.

• Submit and manage claims to private health funds, DVA, WorkCover, TAC and other funding bodies.

• Monitor outstanding claims and accounts, following up rejected or overdue payments.

• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with clinical and administrative teams.

• Process patient payments and reconcile daily receipts and banking.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health fund and healthcare billing requirements.

• Respond to patient and internal enquiries regarding fees, payments and account balances.

• Provide friendly, professional and confidential customer service, including managing difficult conversations appropriately.

• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with policies relating to privacy, safety, quality and compliance.

• Work collaboratively with Finance, Accounts Receivable, Clinic and Management teams.

• Previous experience in medical, hospital or health fund billing.

• Sound knowledge of private health fund billing processes.

• Strong administrative, organisational and time-management skills.

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.

• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.

• Experience in a day hospital or private hospital environment.

• FYDO experience.

• Experience with patient or hospital management systems such as Genie, Blue Chip, Meditech, HealthTrack or similar.

• Certificate in Medical or Business Administration.

• Understanding of the Australian Private Health Insurance Act and related billing requirements.

This is a hybrid role, with work-from-home flexibility available once the successful candidate has demonstrated confidence and capability in the position.
