About the role
ES Design is expanding and we are seeking an experienced Architect/Building Designer to join our growing team. This role offers exposure to a diverse range of residential projects, with genuine involvement across the full project lifecycle from concept design through to construction documentation and approvals.
You’ll work within a positive, professional and collaborative team that values experience, encourages initiative, and is committed to delivering consistently high-quality results. The following will form part of your role:
· Deliver residential projects across all stages: preliminary studies, design development, and construction documentation.
· Manage projects from commencement through to completion, ensuring all stages are delivered efficiently and to program.
· Coordinate and manage external consultants and stakeholders to achieve timely project outcomes.
· Coordinate consultants including town planners, engineers and builders.
· Manage and guide the internal design and drafting team to ensure coordination, documentation, and deliverables are completed in line with project requirements.
· Review, mark up, and provide clear direction on plans and documentation to maintain quality and consistency.
· Liaise closely with clients to understand their brief, requirements, and expectations.
· Communicate project progress, design outcomes, and technical matters clearly with clients and consultants.
· Prepare and coordinate DA, CDC, and CC packages for residential developments.
· Submit plans to local authorities and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
· Produce detailed drawings for DA, CDC and CC Packages.
· Document standard specifications for construction finishes.
· Interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
· Ensure compliance with building regulations and standards.
· Negotiate to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.
· Attend meetings with clients and consultants in-house and off-site.
· Resolve functional and technical design-related issues with practical solutions efficiently.
· Assist with ad-hoc tasks as needed by team members and management.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
· Solid grasp of design principles.
· Revit experience of minimum 2 years with concept to detailed documentation.
· Thorough understanding of the National Construction Code of Australia (NCC) and Australian Standards.
· Ability to collaborate effectively within project teams.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Punctuality and ability to adhere to deadlines.
· Motivation to continually learn and grow with the business and industry.
· Building effective working relationships with consultants, suppliers.
· Liaising with designers, builders, and contractors.
· Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while effectively managing both individual and team workloads.
· Critical thinking abilities with a keen eye for detail.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a architect/building designer.
· General Construction Induction White Card.
· Current Australian Driver’s License.
· Unrestricted Australian Working Rights.
