About the role
St Joseph’s Outreach Services (SJOS) was established over 25 years ago as a volunteer run organisation focused on providing emergency relief to the vulnerable. We are a non-denominational organisation with a strong focus on diversity, inclusion and respect amongst our members, volunteers and visitors.
SJOS operates and maintains 12 fully furnished self-contained units providing homes for the vulnerable, a Food Store operating three days a week supplying staple foods to those in need, a Bread Bank which is accessible to the community 24 hours a day and a Harvest Garden from which all produce is made available to visitors of the Food Store. Each of these initiatives support the community’s increasing needs, doing so in a way that focuses on adaptive reuse and environmental sustainability. These programs are a constant source of help for over 13,000 individuals a year.
Provision of essential assistance, in a sustainable manner, to community members in need of support.

They should possess excellent verbal and written communication, and exceptional organisational and time management abilities – having the ability to work effectively under pressure, both independently and collaboratively.
This part-time on-site role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the SJOS services, including transitional housing, food store, bread bank and harvest garden.
