We’re looking for a Club General Manager to lead our team at World Gym Melrose Park.

The Role
As Club General Manager you are responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and
accountability of the club. You oversee all departments including sales, customer service,
reception and retail, recovery, personal training, and group fitness, ensuring each function
operates to standard and contributes to business targets. Every department leader reports to
you, you report directly to the Group CEO and group and Senior Leadership Team.
This role requires a leader who sets clear expectations, enforces accountability, and develops a
performance driven culture. You will be responsible for aligning the team to operational
processes, revenue targets, and member experience standards while ensuring ownership at
every level of the business.
You are not only managing activity, but you’re also accountable for outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Accountability
• Lead, structure, and develop department leaders and team members.
• Set clear expectations, performance metrics, and behavioural standards.
• Hold team members accountable for results, execution, and compliance.
• Address underperformance directly and constructively.
• Build a culture of ownership, responsibility, and consistency.Operational Oversight
• Oversee daily club operations across all departments.
• Ensure processes and policies are followed without exception.
• Maintain service, presentation, and safety standards.
• Identify inefficiencies and implement operational improvements.
• Set clear expectations and measurable targets for each department, and coach against
them
• Build and manage the club budget; roster to budget without compromising service
• Review reporting weekly, spot trends before they become problems, and act
• Ensure the sales team runs structured pipelines, call drives and tours to standard
• Own the floor - daily walkthroughs, standards enforced, maintenance and safety closed
out
• Handle escalated member complaints, performance issues and incidents
• Recruit, onboard and develop your team
• Keep the club compliant - WHS, member privacy, certification registers, employment
obligations
Financial Performance Management
• Manage club financial performance including budgeting and forecasting.
• Monitor revenue streams, labour control, and expense management.
• Review reporting regularly and act on performance trends.
• Drive the club toward revenue and profitability targets.
Sales and Growth Leadership
• Ensure sales teams execute structured pipelines and conversion processes.
• Monitor performance metrics and coach for improvement.
• Implement initiatives to support member acquisition and retention.
• Maintain alignment between marketing, sales, and operational delivery.
Member Experience and Retention
• Ensure a consistently high standard of member experience.
• Resolve escalated complaints and complex situations.
• Protect brand reputation through professional decision making.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Strategic and Forward Planning
• Monitor industry and local market trends.
• Implement initiatives that maintain competitiveness.
• Support business planning and execution of growth strategies.
About You
• Proven leadership experience within fitness, retail, or service environments.
• Strong track record of managing teams to measurable performance outcomes.
• Confident holding staff accountable and managing difficult conversations.
• Financial literacy and experience managing budgets or reporting.
• Highly structured and process driven.
• Strong communication and decision-making capability.
• Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
• Right to work in Australia
Well regarded
• Fitness industry experience and understanding of membership business models
• Certificate III or IV in Fitness
• Experience opening a site, turning one around, or leading through change
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009), or willingness to obtain during
course of employment
