National Policy & Advocacy Manager

The National Landcare Network is seeking an experienced and motivated National Policy & Advocacy Manager to lead our national policy and advocacy agenda. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the highest levels of government, collaborate with State and Territory Landcare Organisations and help ensure community Landcare has a strong and influential national voice.

About the National Landcare Network

The National Landcare Network is Australia's national peak body representing State and Territory Landcare Organisations. As the national voice for community Landcare, we work with governments, industry and community partners to advocate for our members, strengthen the Landcare movement and deliver positive environmental outcomes across Australia.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the development and implementation of the National Landcare Network's policy and advocacy agenda while providing strategic leadership across communications and stakeholder engagement.

Working closely with the CEO, Members Council, State and Territory Landcare Organisations and key stakeholders, you will drive national policy and advocacy, influence decision makers and build strategic partnerships that strengthen the voice of community Landcare across Australia. You will also oversee the Digital Engagement and Events Officer, ensuring communications align with advocacy priorities and enhance the organisation's profile.

Key responsibilities

You will:

• Lead the National Landcare Network's national policy and advocacy agenda.
• Develop evidence based policy positions and strategic advice.
• Prepare submissions, briefing papers and policy documents.
• Build productive relationships with Commonwealth Ministers, government agencies and national stakeholders.
• Represent the organisation in national forums, advisory groups and working groups.
• Lead the organisation's communications strategy and public messaging.
• Coordinate consultation with State and Territory Landcare Organisations.
• Develop strategic partnerships and identify new funding opportunities.
• Supervise and support the Digital Engagement and Events Officer.

About you

We are looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with excellent relationship management and communication skills.

You will ideally have:

• Experience developing policy, advocacy or government relations strategies.
• Experience engaging with Commonwealth Government and national stakeholders.
• Strong written communication and policy development skills.
• Experience leading advocacy initiatives and influencing policy outcomes.
• Leadership experience, including managing staff or complex projects.
• Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, agriculture, natural resource management, environmental policy or a related discipline.

Experience within the Landcare movement, a national peak body, environmental organisation or the natural resource management sector is essential.
