About the role

Budget Auto Service and Tyre are seeking an experienced Motor Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis at our Epping, Victoria location. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of vehicle servicing and repair that our customers depend on. As a Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing vehicle issues, performing repairs and maintenance, and ensuring all work meets industry safety standards and our company's quality expectations. This is a hands-on position that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Diagnosing mechanical faults and vehicle issues using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge

• Performing routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and inspections

• Repairing and replacing vehicle components including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems

• Conducting thorough vehicle inspections and providing customers with transparent reports on required work

• Safely operating mechanical tools and equipment in compliance with health and safety regulations

• Maintaining accurate service records and documentation for all work completed

• Adhering to manufacturer specifications and repair procedures for all vehicle types

• Communicating effectively with customers to explain repairs, costs, and timelines

• Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment

• Staying current with industry best practices and new vehicle technology

What we're looking for

• Current automotive trade qualification or equivalent recognised certification (such as Certificate III or IV in Automotive Mechanical Technology)

• Proven experience working as a Motor Mechanic in a professional service environment

• Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems, engines, and mechanical repair procedures

• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment and computer-based diagnostic systems

• Ability to work independently whilst also collaborating effectively with team members

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Valid Australian driver's licence

• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach

• Physical capability to perform the demands of the role, including standing, bending, and lifting

• Experience in a tyre fitting and balancing environment is desirable
