About the Role
Tec-NQ requires a Chef to assist at its Boarding facility. The position is to be based in Townsville on a permanent basis five days a week with weekend work included.
Our ideal person will undertake duties such as:
shopping for food.
food preparation.
cooking food.
serving food in adherence to dietary requirements with a strong focus on food safety standards.
general cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas.
The Chef will ensure that systems and processes are adhered to at Tec-NQ Boarding. The Chef will maintain and promote a professional and positive image of Tec-NQ and its values.

Tec-NQ’s senior school focuses on transitioning students directly from school to the workforce. It’s integrated work experience and training programs are supported by strong links with industry. Tec-NQ maintains high standards of compliance as both an independent senior secondary school and registered training organisation (RTO). The senior school is based in Townsville, but its provision of boarding attracts students from across rural, remote and isolated areas of Queensland.
Tec-NQ’s RTO delivers nationally accredited training in Townsville, Mackay and Cairns. Vocational training is provided across broad industry areas including Construction, Electro-technology, Engineering and Automotive.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Relevant trade qualification (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent skills from previous experience
2. Ability to work in an efficient manner with attention to detail
3. Good understanding of Australian food and beverage standards
4. QLD Food Handlers Certificate or the eligibility to obtain
5. Ability to work in a team environment with proven reliability
6. Current C Class Australian Licence
7. Queensland Working with children card or the eligibility to obtain
