About the role

Hearth & Graze Cafe / Restaurant / Bar is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our professional kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard, following recipes, menu specifications and presentation standards, and managing food preparation and cooking across different sections of the kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard

• Following recipes, menu specifications and presentation standards

• Preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner service

• Assisting with menu planning and development

• Managing food preparation and cooking across different sections of the kitchen

• Ensuring food quality, portion control and presentation are maintained

• Maintaining food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards

• Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering

• Minimising food wastage and maintaining cost control

• Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen

About you

• Relevant commercial cookery qualifications and/or relevant industry experience

• Proven experience as a Chef in a busy cafe, restaurant or similar commercial kitchen

• Strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques

• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene requirements

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations

• High attention to detail and commitment to food quality

• Availability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and public holidays
