Graduate Mechanical Engineer – Plant Design & Projects

Our primary focus is supporting the powder coating and surface finishing industries through innovative design, project delivery, commissioning, and technical support.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to support the design, delivery, commissioning, and continuous improvement of industrial plant projects. This role combines office-based engineering and design work with occasional field-based activities, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning and operational support. A strong capability in Autodesk Plant 3D is essential, including project setup, management, and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain 3D plant models using Autodesk Plant 3D.

• Produce and manage P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, GA drawings, and engineering documentation.

• Set up, manage, and coordinate Plant 3D project environments, ensuring model integrity and drawing control.

• Support  project  delivery  through  design  reviews,  coordination  meetings,  and  technical documentation.

• Conduct site visits for inspections, field verification, and project support.

• Assist with troubleshooting plant and equipment issues and develop practical engineering solutions.

• Support system testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs), commissioning, and operational handover activities.

• Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, process, and automation personnel.

• Ensure all engineering activities comply with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant Australian Standards.

• Promote and maintain a strong commitment to workplace health, safety, environmental requirements, and risk management practices.

Skills and Experience

Requirements

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.

• Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD.

• Ability to manage and coordinate Plant 3D projects and deliverables.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.

• Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

• Willingness to undertake occasional site work and commissioning activities.

Desirable

• Exposure to industrial, process, water, manufacturing, mining, or energy projects.

• Knowledge of P&IDs, process systems, and piping design.

• Familiarity with project management platforms.
