About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Mechanical Engineer to support the design, delivery, commissioning, and continuous improvement of industrial plant projects. This role combines office-based engineering and design work with occasional field-based activities, providing exposure to the full project lifecycle from concept through to commissioning and operational support. A strong capability in Autodesk Plant 3D is essential, including project setup, management, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain 3D plant models using Autodesk Plant 3D.
Produce and manage P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, GA drawings, and engineering documentation.
Set up, manage, and coordinate Plant 3D project environments, ensuring model integrity and drawing control.
Support project delivery through design reviews, coordination meetings, and technical documentation.
Conduct site visits for inspections, field verification, and project support.
Assist with troubleshooting plant and equipment issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
Support system testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs), commissioning, and operational handover activities.
Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, process, and automation personnel.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with company procedures, client requirements, and relevant Australian Standards.
Promote and maintain a strong commitment to workplace health, safety, environmental requirements, and risk management practices.
Skills and Experience
Requirements
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D and AutoCAD.
Ability to manage and coordinate Plant 3D projects and deliverables.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Willingness to undertake occasional site work and commissioning activities.
Desirable
Exposure to industrial, process, water, manufacturing, mining, or energy projects.
Knowledge of P&IDs, process systems, and piping design.
Familiarity with project management platforms.
Personal Attributes
Reliable and organised.
Strong attention to detail.
Enjoys solving problems and troubleshooting.
Proactive and willing to ask questions when unsure.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn, particularly fundamentals of electrical systems, pneumatics, instrumentation, and process design.
Strong focus on safety, integrity, quality and compliance.
