National Category Manager

About the role

This role involves creating and developing long-term strategic plans to generate sustainable growth of the mycar automotive categories, with the goal of driving total category improvements including supplier performance. You will lead category management projects to optimise ranges and related merchandising, and deliver identified improvement projects within the broader Supply Chain & Procurement function.

Key responsibilities

• Creating and developing long-term strategic plans that will generate sustainable growth of the mycar automotive categories, driving total category improvements including supplier performance

• Leading category management projects to optimise ranges and related merchandising

• Delivering identified improvement projects and activities within the broader context of the Supply Chain & Procurement function

• Using tools, techniques and data to profile, benchmark, research and assess the market to ensure continuity of supply and best value

• Managing vendor relationships through effective communications to ensure the right selection, availability, and acquisition of products

• Negotiating pricing, delivery and payment terms with vendors, and managing retail profit margin

• Identifying promotional opportunities and engaging with suppliers

• Setting competitive price points and adjusting pricing to increase sales and clear out stagnant items from inventory

• Managing inventory and effectively planning and forecasting to maximise profitability of inventory flow

• Representing the merchandise team at a functional level within mycar and with key strategic partners

About you

• 5 years of experience in Category Management is essential

• Experience and proven track record in influencing, negotiating, and problem solving with key business decision makers

• Experience in a role that required a high degree of personal work output in addition to managing the outputs of other people

• Experience with a small merchandise team with a demonstrable culture that is driven by performance

• Experience and success in leading and participating in complex category business projects

• People Management experience

• Demonstrated success as an inspiring and engaging Values and Behaviours leader of teams

• Strong commercial acumen and sound capability to understand and translate business strategy to implementable projects

• Ability to develop relationships across all levels and functions

• Highly analytical with an intuitive and problem-solving mindset
