Data Engineer

Location: Perth, WA
Rate: Up to $70 per hour (dependent on experience)
Type: Contract
Duration: Initial 6 month contract
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days

About the Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a high-performing Systems team responsible for developing software and data platforms that support mine planning and broader technical services functions.

This role will focus on designing, building, and optimising scalable data solutions while contributing to the ongoing development of a modern cloud-based data platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the ongoing development of enterprise data platforms
• Design and build scalable, reusable dbt models and macros
• Develop and maintain data pipelines using dbt-core within Snowflake
• Optimise and refactor existing code for scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices
• Collaborate with team members through code reviews and technical discussions
• Troubleshoot data issues and improve query performance
• Support the delivery of high-quality data solutions for operational and technical stakeholders

Mandatory Requirements

• Strong experience with SQL, dbt-core, Snowflake, and Python
• Strong background in data modelling, including Data Vault and Dimensional Modelling
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines in cloud-based environments
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Preferred

• Experience within mining, resources, engineering, or technical services environments
• Exposure to modern data platform architectures and best practices
• Experience supporting reporting, analytics, and operational systems
