Dental Assistant/Receptionist

About the role

We are seeking a Dental Reception / Assistant to join our team at Hogans Road Dental in Hoppers Crossing. This is a part-time permanent position that offers an excellent opportunity to work in a friendly and caring family dental practice environment. In this dual-purpose role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and administrative support, playing a vital part in ensuring our practice runs smoothly and our patients receive outstanding service. You will be the first point of contact for our patients and will work closely with our dental team to provide a welcoming, professional and efficient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greeting patients and managing reception duties, including scheduling appointments, managing cancellations and maintaining accurate patient records
• Providing administrative support by handling patient enquiries, processing payments and managing billing procedures
• Assisting the dentist and dental hygienist during clinical procedures, including preparing treatment areas and sterilising instruments
• Taking and developing dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by clinical staff
• Maintaining a clean, organised and compliant clinical and reception environment
• Supporting patient comfort and managing patient flow throughout the practice
• Processing patient communications and managing correspondence
• Ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and workplace health and safety procedures

What we're looking for

• Proven experience working in a dental reception or dental assisting role, or relevant training in dental nursing or dental assisting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and team members
• Strong organisational abilities and proficiency with dental practice management software
• Customer service experience and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
• Understanding of dental terminology, procedures and patient privacy requirements
• Current knowledge of infection control and occupational health and safety standards
• Reliability and flexibility with a positive, collaborative approach to teamwork
