Quality Control Officer (Fabrication)

About the Role

Briteforce is looking for a hands on and detail focused Quality Control Officer to join our Fabrication team in Midvale.

This role is ideal for someone with practical fabrication experience who understands the importance of getting things right before they move to the next stage of production.

You will be responsible for inspecting completed welded assemblies, checking components against engineering drawings, preparing and packing finished parts into kits ready for dispatch to powdercoating, completing quality and dispatch documentation, operating forklifts, loading trucks and supporting the overall organisation and housekeeping of the fabrication workshop and yard.

This is not a desk based quality role. You will be actively involved in the workshop and will need to be comfortable working around fabricated components, forklifts, manual handling tasks and day to day production activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Inspecting completed welded assemblies and fabricated components.

• Checking finished work against engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

• Identifying weld defects, dimensional issues, incomplete work and other non conformances.

• Using measuring equipment to confirm dimensions and product compliance.

• Completing quality inspection, kit preparation, packing and dispatch documentation accurately.

• Preparing and packing completed fabricated components into complete and correctly identified kits ready for dispatch to powdercoating.

• Regularly operating forklifts to move materials, assemblies and completed kits.

• Loading completed kits and fabricated components onto trucks ready for dispatch to powdercoating.

• Communicating regularly with the Fabrication Manager regarding work priorities and quality issues.

• Reporting non conforming finished products and assisting with corrective action where required.

• Assisting with parts put away and general workshop organisation.

• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout the fabrication workshop and yard.

• Keeping storage areas, access ways and work areas clean, organised and safe.

• Assisting with general workshop cleaning and basic maintenance duties as required.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

• Welding, boilermaking or fabrication workshop experience.

• A current LF High Risk Work License / forklift license.

• The ability to confidently read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

• Experience using measuring equipment accurately.

• Basic competency using hand and power tools.

• A strong eye for detail and a high standard of workmanship.

• The confidence to identify and report work that does not meet drawings, specifications or quality standards.

• The physical capacity to safely undertake regular manual handling.

• Good communication skills.

• The ability to work independently and follow established processes.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.

We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have:

• Experience inspecting welded assemblies or fabricated components.

• Knowledge of common weld defects and fabrication quality issues.

• Previous experience in quality control, quality inspection or quality assurance within manufacturing.

You are practical, organised and comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment. You are happy to be hands on, whether that means inspecting a fabricated assembly, operating a forklift, preparing and packing kits for powdercoating dispatch, completing documentation, loading trucks or helping keep the workshop and yard organised.

Most importantly, you are prepared to speak up when finished work does not meet the required standard and understand that quality is a critical part of the production process.
