Movers Choice & Co Pty Ltd This is a senior operational leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director. You will hold overall responsibility for the running of the business — its logistics, its fleet, its people, its compliance, its clients and its financial performance.

It is a hands-on role in a physical, fast-moving environment; you will be as comfortable on the depot floor and across the operation as you are in the numbers. You will be trusted to run the operation as your own and to be accountable for its results. Task & responsibilities Logistics & operations —  Plan, direct and optimise daily transport across local and interstate lanes, relocations and crate-hire fulfilment — routing, scheduling and resource allocation to deliver on time and at cost. Financial performance & forecasting —  Own the operational budget and have your hands directly on the profit and loss — forecasting, cost control, analysing financial reports, assessing job and lane profitability, and adjusting to protect margin. Report performance against clear KPIs.

This will include commercial oversight of transport contracts, pricing, customer accounts and supplier arrangements. Fleet & assets —  Manage the fleet and the crate-hire pool end to end — utilisation, preventative maintenance, downtime, and performance monitoring using operational KPIs. Compliance & safety —  Lead heavy-vehicle compliance and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) / NHVAS obligations, WHS, risk identification and incident reporting across a road- and depot-based operation.

People & culture —  Lead, roster, mentor and develop operational and administrative staff; set expectations, manage performance, resolve conflict, and build a high-performance, safety-first culture across shifts and sites. Clients & commercial —  Own client accounts and service standards, quote and win work, negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors, manage procurement, and drive continuous process improvement across the business. Qualification & experience

This is a demanding role and we are deliberately setting the bar high. To be considered, you will need to demonstrate the substantial majority of the following: At least 3 years' management experience in transport and logistics covering goods transport and relocations — not general warehousing or a single-service operation alone A Diploma or higher (AQF Diploma level or above) in Transport, Logistics, Freight or Business Management/Accounting, or equivalent extensive sector experience Demonstrated ownership of a profit and loss — real budgeting, forecasting, cost and profitability analysis and KPI-based performance reporting, with the business acumen to make commercial decisions from the numbers Working command of heavy-vehicle compliance, including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and NHVAS obligations Fleet management experience including preventative maintenance, utilisation and performance monitoring Experience running a multi-service-line operation (transport lanes, relocations and equipment or crate hire) with several revenue streams A proven people leader — building culture, managing performance, developing frontline teams and leading under pressure in a shift-based, road- and depot-based environment Supplier and contract negotiation and procurement experience Comfort with the physical, hands-on nature of a live logistics operation A current full Victorian driver's licence and availability for full-time work across our Melbourne bases with interstate coordination

About Company Movers Choice & Co is a transport and logistics business based in Melbourne. A large part of what we do is local and interstate goods transport — moving freight and customer goods across Victoria and along the eastern seaboard — supported by in-house operational crews, a managed fleet, and a hireable fleet of reusable plastic moving crates that customers rent to pack and transport their own goods. Alongside this we deliver full residential and commercial relocations, packing services and materials supply.

We are looking for a Transport Company Manager to take genuine operational and commercial ownership of the whole operation — someone who can run the day-to-day, own the performance of the business, and lead the team that delivers it.
