About the role
The Package: $34.72 - $38.36 gross per hour + 12% super. (Evaluated as Grade 6 of the QPRC Salary System 2026) and Award increases of 4% in 2027-28 and 4% in 2028-2029.
Full-time position – 38 hours per week, with 9-day fortnight arrangements in place.
The Waste Branch is seeking motivated individuals to provide an essential service to our community through our waste facilities and ancillary services. Based at the Bungendore Waste Transfer Station, our Waste Operators deliver excellent customer service, provide safe and efficient operations and positive environmental outcomes.
In this role you will:
Undertake the daily operations of Council’s waste facilities, waste collection and illegal dumping responses.
Operate and maintain Council’s plant and equipment. Practical experience in plant operation is highly regarded but not essential. We will train you to become a competent operator.
Facilitate financial transactions for fees and charges related to waste services.
Interact with our customers and add value to the customer experience at our waste facilities.
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience in frontline services in a complex operational environment
Has outstanding communication and customer service skills.
Has an interest in waste management and the environment and is highly motivated to learn new skills.
Possesses a current class ‘C’ driver’s licence.
