We are seeking an experienced Assistant Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of our farm near Tamworth, NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated farming professional to play a key role in managing bird performance, maintaining high animal welfare standards, and driving operational excellence within a growing agricultural business.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
Lead and manage daily farm operations, making operational decisions to achieve production targets while ensuring safe and efficient work practices.
Supervise, train, and support farm staff, including workforce planning, performance management, and maintaining accurate training records.
Monitor bird health, welfare, growth, and quality, ensuring livestock care standards are met and liaising with management on flock performance.
Maintain farm assets, equipment, biosecurity, and site security, ensuring facilities are operating effectively and comply with company standards.
Manage farm administration and reporting, including documentation, health records, cost control, and operational reporting requirements.
Drive compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) standards, including incident investigations, staff consultation, risk management, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.
Ensure environmental, quality, and sustainability compliance, while identifying operational improvements and implementing best-practice farm management processes.
Requirements:
Livestock management experience
Current driver's license (tractor driving ability)
Proficient in English (reading, writing, communication)
Proven animal husbandry and personnel management skills
Knowledge of quality systems, WHS, CoR procedures, and environmental impact
Poultry industry experience, especially broiler farming
Certificate III in Poultry Production (if required)
Team player with good communication skills
