About the role
We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Company Accountant / Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day accounting and statutory reporting requirements of multiple companies. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will work independently and as part of a small team, taking the initiative to assist with a variety of accounting, finance and administrative tasks.
Key responsibilitiesManage the full accounting function for multiple companies using Xero.Maintain accurate general ledgers, including bank reconciliations, journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations.Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payment processing.Complete month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting processes.Prepare multi-entity accounts and group consolidation schedules, including intercompany reconciliations.Prepare and lodge monthly, quarterly and annual BAS and other relevant statutory returns.Manage PAYG withholding, payroll-related reporting and superannuation payment and reporting obligations.Prepare and lodge taxable payments annual reports and other applicable payment and withholding reports.Prepare financial information, reconciliations and supporting schedules for management reporting.Liaise with external corporate auditors and coordinate audit information and supporting documentation.Assist the Financial Controller with budgeting, reporting, compliance and other finance-related tasks as required.Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure all reporting and lodgement deadlines are met.Undertake other administrative duties from time to time as required.Skills and experienceA minimum of five years’ accounting experience, including responsibility for the accounts of multiple companies.Advanced knowledge of and practical experience using Xero.Demonstrated experience in multi-entity accounting and group consolidations.Strong knowledge of BAS, PAYG withholding, superannuation and other Australian statutory reporting obligations.Experience liaising with and supporting external corporate auditors.Ability to manage competing deadlines and work accurately with minimal supervision.Ability to work effectively in a small team and use initiative to take on multiple tasks and responsibilities.Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and problem-solving ability.Self-motivated, reliable and able to work independently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience in the construction or property development industry will be highly regarded.
