  Local Fire is seeking a motivated and reliable Fire Technician to join our team. Whether you're an experienced technician or looking to start a career in the fire protection industry, we provide ongoing training and support to help you succeed.

  About the Role

  As a Fire Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance and minor repair of fire protection systems in accordance with Australian Standards and company procedures.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems, including:

    • Fire hydrants and hose reels

    • Fire sprinkler systems

    • Portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets

    • Emergency and exit lighting

    • Fire detection and alarm systems

    • Fire doors and passive fire systems

  • Perform hydrant and sprinkler flow testing and accurately interpret results.

  • Identify defects, non-compliances and maintenance requirements.

  • Carry out minor repairs and rectification works where appropriate.

  • Complete service reports, test records and compliance documentation accurately and on time.

  • Maintain a high standard of customer service when dealing with clients and site representatives.

  • Ensure company vehicles, tools and equipment are maintained and presented professionally.

  • Work in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, including AS 1851, AS 2293 and associated fire safety regulations.

  Experience & Skills

  Essential

  • Current driver's licence.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

  Desirable (but not essential)

  Applicants with previous fire protection industry experience may have skills including:

  • Inspection and testing of various fire alarm systems and panels.

  • Testing of hydrant and sprinkler pump sets.

  • Testing smoke alarms and smoke detection systems.

  • Inspection and testing of emergency and exit lighting systems.

  • Maintenance of portable fire equipment.

  • Fire door inspections.

  • Fire hydrant and hose reel testing, including flow testing.

  • Routine maintenance in accordance with AS 1851.

  • Defect identification and reporting.

  • Minor defect repairs and rectification.

  • Installation of fire extinguishers and fire blankets.

  Experience is preferred but not essential. Full training will be provided to the right applicant with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
