The Role 

We’re looking for an experienced Project Engineer / Transition Manager to join a Defence maritime program team in Cairns. This is a great opportunity for a senior engineer to lead the transition of capability from acquisition into sustainment, working across engineering, project management, logistics and commercial disciplines.

You’ll act as a key point of contact between internal and external stakeholders, exercising delegated technical authority while supporting introduction-into-service milestones for a range of projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the transition of capability from acquisition projects into sustainment
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, chairing and participating in project meetings
• Prepare and contribute to project reports, plans and technical documentation
• Participate in technical inspections and test activities, reviewing outcomes and making recommendations
• Exercise technical authority within allocated delegation, supporting design acceptance activities

Required

• Current NV1 security clearance
• Bachelor of Engineering (preferably Mechanical), with Chartered Professional Engineer status or ability to obtain within 3 months
• Familiarity with introduction into service of Defence capabilities and Fundamental Inputs to Capability
• Experience with ASDEFCON-driven acquisitions, including technical/engineering and ILS elements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a preference for candidates based in Cairns
