General Manager Intelligence - Economic Crime Risk

Do work that matters

As General Manager Intelligence, Economic Crime Risk, you will define the strategic direction of the Group's Economic Crime Intelligence capability, positioning intelligence as a core enterprise capability that helps identify, assess and disrupt emerging economic crime threats.

You will lead specialist teams across Financial Crime Intelligence Unit, Fraud Intelligence, Financial Crime Customer Escalations and Fraud & Scams Industry, Intelligence and Disruption functions, ensuring intelligence is translated into practical risk insights and customer protection outcomes. In addition, you’ll be the Money Laundering Reporting Officer delegate for the Fintel Alliance and Scam Prevention Officer delegate for the Australian Financial Crime Exchange.

This role reports to the Co-Head of Economic Crime - Scam Prevention Officer , and works closely with executive leadership, regulators, government agencies, law enforcement, industry bodies and partners to influence economic crime capability across CBA and the broader financial services sector.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Enterprise Strategy & Intelligence Capability: Define and drive the long-term strategy for Economic Crime Intelligence, integrating intelligence, data, technology, artificial intelligence and partnerships to strengthen enterprise capability and resilience.
• Enterprise Threat & Risk Insights: Maintain an enterprise view of the evolving threat landscape, translating internal and external intelligence into timely, actionable insights that inform strategy, investment, governance and risk oversight.
• Customer Protection & Specialist Decisioning: Lead specialist decisioning for complex customer matters across money laundering, terrorism financing, sanctions, trade finance, fraud and scams, balancing customer protection, regulatory obligations and financial system integrity.
• Industry Leadership, Partnerships & Disruption: Represent CBA through strategic engagement with regulators, government agencies, law enforcement, industry bodies and public-private partnerships, strengthening intelligence sharing and coordinated disruption outcomes.
• Enterprise Disruption & Intelligence Sharing: Champion intelligence-led disruption, recovery and prevention initiatives, including collaboration across industry forums, Fintel Alliance, Australian Financial Crime Exchange and relevant external partners.
• Leadership: Inspire and develop a high-performing enterprise leadership team, fostering an inclusive, curious and innovative culture that delivers sustainable outcomes for customers, communities and the Group.

We’re interested in hearing from people who

• Executive leadership experience across Economic Crime, Financial Crime, Fraud and Scams, Intelligence, National Security, Law Enforcement, Risk or Compliance in a complex organisation.
• Deep expertise in intelligence-led approaches to money laundering, terrorism financing, sanctions, bribery and corruption, fraud, scams and organised financial crime.
• Experience shaping enterprise strategy, intelligence capability, analytics, advanced technology or risk transformation across complex matrix environments.
• Strong ability to influence executive leaders, Boards, regulators, government agencies, law enforcement, industry bodies and public-private partnerships.
• Commercial judgement and risk discipline, with the ability to balance customer outcomes, regulatory expectations, operational realities and strategic priorities.
• Demonstrated capability leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to strengthen predictive intelligence, customer protection and enterprise resilience.
• Strong understanding of domestic and international Economic Crime trends, public-private intelligence partnerships and Australia's regulatory and law enforcement landscape.
