Senior Developer – COBOL Specialist

At Vittoria Food & Beverage, our IT team plays a crucial role in keeping our business operations running smoothly. We are looking for a Senior Developer with strong COBOL expertise to support and maintain our existing systems, working under the direction of our Senior Analyst Programmer.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Performing day-to-day maintenance and support of our In-house Vital ERP system, legacy applications, and business system interfaces, under the direction of the Senior Analyst Programmer.

• Developing and enhancing COBOL programs (MF COBOL, AcuCobol) to specifications provided by senior technical staff.

• Troubleshooting system issues, logging and escalating incidents that fall outside defined resolution authority.

• Assisting with system integration tasks as directed, implementing updates and configuration changes.

• Contributing to SQL database development and supporting file systems (C-ISAM, RDBMS) as part of assigned tasks.

• Following documented procedures and technical specifications to complete assigned development and support work accurately.
  

What You Bring

•  3–5 years' experience in COBOL programming (MF COBOL or AcuCOBOL).

• Working knowledge of Linux and Windows OS environments

• Experience with file systems and databases (SQL Server, C-ISAM).

• Ability to follow documented technical specifications and implement changes accurately.

• Experience supporting and maintaining legacy business-critical applications.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated aptitude for self-learning.

• Ability and enthusiasm to analyse complex multi-layered legacy applications, trace end-to-end business processes through code, files, and batch jobs.

• Understanding of distribution, sales, finance, manufacturing or FMCG environments is beneficial.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to system reliability and code quality.

• Willingness to work under the direction of senior technical and analyst staff, escalating issues appropriately.
