About the role
As a Building Inspector within Codus, your role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with the Building Act and Regulations and the National Construction Code. Your responsibilities encompass onsite inspections, report generation, stakeholder liaison, and providing guidance to junior team members. This role offers the opportunity to shape and contribute to Codus' commitment to quality outcomes and continuous improvement. Codus is a flexible employer and we are open to a permanent part-time arrangement.
Responsibilities:
Onsite Inspections: Conduct thorough onsite inspections of various construction projects to identify noncompliance and ensure adherence to approved documentation.
Timely Reporting: Prepare detailed and timely inspection reports for key stakeholders, maintaining clear and effective communication regarding inspection outcomes.
Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate with clients and relevant stakeholders to provide onsite direction and keep internal teams informed about inspection results, client requirements, and project updates.
Training and Mentoring: Provide on-the-job training to graduate and building code consultants supporting their development in building inspection skills. Mentor and coach peers to enhance the overall expertise in building inspections within Codus.
Documentation and Compliance: Assist in the preparation of building notices, orders, and directions to rectify issues. Follow established processes and utilise systems for document preparation and submission.
Communication: Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
Requirements:

Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated technical knowledge in building inspection, including understanding relevant regulations and project phases.
Systems and Processes: Proficiency in using relevant systems such as Microsoft Office, OneNote, Excel, Word, and file management systems.
Personal Development: Proactively seek opportunities for learning and skill enhancement, including participation in training and briefing sessions.
Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate within a team environment and create synergy towards collective goals.
Initiative: Display proactive behaviour, going beyond expectations to accomplish tasks and solve problems.
Results Orientation: Strive for excellence, set, and achieve challenging goals, and meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
