The Desii Kitchen (also known as Sun Rise Indian & Sri Lankan Restaurant) is a welcoming Indian restaurant offering authentic, flavour-rich dishes prepared with traditional recipes and fresh ingredients. Known for its warm hospitality and diverse menu, it provides a memorable dining experience for customers seeking quality Indian cuisine. We are seeking a full time, experienced Cook based in Wentworthville NSW, offering a salary of $80,000 to $85,000 per year plus superannuation.
The role requires you to hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery plus at least 1 year at level experience, or equivalent solid equivalent experience. You must be able to work independently and well within a team and have confidence working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen. We can consider a 482 sponsorship for the right candidate.
Main duties are as follows: ? Prepare, cook and present high-quality menu items in accordance with established recipes, customer expectations and business standards. ? Prepare and customise meals to suit customer dietary requirements and preferences.
? Plan, organise and prepare food for functions, catering orders and special events. ? Ensure the efficient day-to-day kitchen operations, upheld productivity and service standards. ? Monitor food prep and service areas to ensure quality and operational compliance.
? Inspect and maintain the quality of ingredients, food products and finished dishes to ensure consistency and customer satisfaction. ? Adhere to food safety, hygiene, sanitation and WHS/OH&S regulations. ? Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients, stock and kitchen supplies to minimise waste and ensure availability.
? Support the Head Chef in supervising, mentoring and training kitchen staff on food preparation techniques and workplace procedures. ? Proficiently operate commercial kitchen equipment and mentor junior kitchen team. ? Maintain records of stock levels, inventory usage and food storage to maximise life food spans.
