We are looking for a dentist (recent graduate or experienced) who cares about their work, wants to keep developing and understands that every patient and every booking matters.

Smile Lounge is a modern, fully digital private practice offering every area of dentistry under one roof. Our team provides general and cosmetic dentistry, clear aligners, braces, veneers, CEREC, implants, oral surgery, happy gas and in-house general anaesthetic.

We have also received more than 700 five-star Google reviews, making us the highest-reviewed dental practice in the area. We are proud of the number, but what matters more is what sits behind it: patients feeling listened to, looked after and confident referring their family and friends.

How Smile Lounge began

Before starting Smile Lounge, Owners Tony and Chu worked in several private practices. They saw some excellent clinicians and supportive teams, but they also experienced poor systems, limited training and dentists being left to work difficult things out on their own.

Smile Lounge started with zero patients, one chair, Chu as the only dentist and one dental assistant.

In the early years, Tony and Chu each worked six days a week. They answered the phone outside business hours and often stayed at the clinic past midnight setting up systems, creating training materials and refining the way the practice worked.

We do not expect anyone on our team to repeat those years. The whole point of building better systems was so you would not have to.

Today, Smile Lounge has grown into a practice with capacity for 10 chairs, with a team of more than 30 people and a patient base of over 13,000 patients.

As the practice grew, Tony and Chu realised that one of the most rewarding parts of the journey was helping other people become more capable and confident. They have now reduced their own clinical days to a combined 2-day-per-week so they can spend more time training and mentoring the team.

We believe that if we want to go far, we have to go together.

What sets us apart

Plenty of practices have good equipment. What sets us apart is how we help clinicians use the opportunities around them.

We have mentored many dentists to begin providing treatments such as clear aligners, braces and veneers. Those who prepare well and engage with the training have started treating these cases within months of starting with us.

You will have access to regular case discussions, clear clinical systems and practical guidance from experienced clinician-owners.

The support is there, but it is a two-way relationship. We work best with dentists who prepare their cases, ask thoughtful questions, respond well to honest feedback and follow through.

More time to focus on dentistry

We have built a support team around our clinicians so they are not expected to do everything themselves.

You will have:

• A marketing and front office team working to generate enquiries and keep your books full

• A dedicated Smile Concierge who answers patient questions, follows up treatment plans and helps patients understand their options

• OHTs who manage cleans, preventive care and many children’s appointments

• An on-site prosthetist who can manage denture cases if dentures are not your thing

• Support with scans, photography, laboratory work and treatment coordination

• Experienced clinicians available when a case is difficult, not only when everything is going well

This allows you to spend more time developing in areas such as aligners, cosmetic dentistry, implants and comprehensive restorative care.

You will also have access to CBCT, PrimeScan, PrimeMill, iTero, CEREC, dental laser, Dental Monitoring, rotary endodontics, Airflow, happy gas and in-house general anaesthetic.

The role

The position has become available because one of our senior dentists is reducing their clinical days and another will soon commence maternity leave.

You will inherit an established patient base, with your books expected to begin approximately 75% full. This is a permanent role, not simply short-term maternity leave cover.

New patient examinations are booked for one hour. You will have time to listen, complete a proper assessment and explain your recommendations without rushing through the appointment.

We are supportive and friendly, but we are also direct. Problems are discussed openly, commitments matter and feedback is given with the intention of helping people improve.

Role details

• Permanent part-time or full-time position

• Narre Warren location so you can enjoy Melbourne without being in the centre.

• One evening until 7:30 pm required

• Saturday morning availability required

• Monday availability highly regarded

• Expected annual earnings of $200,000–$350,000, depending on days worked, experience and performance
